I've made a lot of Harry Potter references in my X-Men AU mostly for the hell of it, but I recently did this writing meme (you copy and paste in your writing/text and it analyzes word choice and frequency to see who you write like) several times, on my recent or soon-to-be posted chapters of my X-Men AU, and each one came back as "You Write like J.K. Rowling". Including the chapters with zero Harry Potter references in them.

I love my writing being compared to hers, but now I'm creeped out. If it had just been the chapters with HP references I could see where it would come from, but I did it again with the chapters with no references and it still says JKR.

Which is odd. I'm getting different results for different fics (I keep getting Douglas Adams for my BB prologue).

ETA: I've now done this for several of my fics, and all of them come back as either "J.K. Rowling" or "Douglas Adams", mostly JKR. o.O

For those of you who saw my post on how I might need to runaway from home.

Um, well, I don't, for now. My father and I had a big fight, and this one was one of the worst, if not the worst we ever had. We've made up since then, but I also know both him and myself and we're probably going to have another fight again before summer time. But I'm happy with the peace we've managed until then.

So, I long time ago I wrote a fic called Boys Just Wanna Have Fun (warnings, fic is about drugged rape) on

kinkme_merlin. I've since assembled it into one fic/Word document, and I even had someone beta it for me, but during one of our passing of the fic back and forth, they never responded. I've since lost their name, and possibly their e-mail.

If you are reading this, person who beta'd it, please let me know? I'm going to be posting that fic, soon, and I would like to be able to credit you.

I recently started writing the prologue for my

paperlegends fic. I'm not even halfway done and it's already touching up to 5,000 words. I don't think I'll have any trouble making the 30,000 minimum word requirement (the question is whether or not I can freaking finish it on time). On the bright side, I can definitely say I'm already 1/6 done with my Merlin bigbang fic.

It's a modern!AU, with Prince of Wales!Arthur and PM's son!Merlin. Prologue takes place just after Hunith has become Prime Minister, when the boys are about 10-11 years old. So much fun to write! ^+^ That said, this is a lot of heavy British culture and politics and I'm an American. You can see the difficulties that lie ahead. :|

Any of you Brits (or anyone else very familiar with British politics and culture) out there willing to put up with me incessantly asking questions about the most inane things (i.e. tea, food, drinks, schools, ect.) for the sake of accuracy? Anyone feeling like getting barraged by an annoying and frizzled out me?

So, I'm trying to write a post for my new comm. The HTML checks out, all the tags are closed properly, everything, ect ect, but when I hit "Post", it tells me "Client error: Sorry, but there's something wrong with the content of your post." It won't tell me what's wrong, and I for the life of me have no idea what it could be. It's a britpicking post, list of links with commentary on them.

Some of you may remember that a long time ago, I started my own Merlin Tarot project. However I didn't research the Tarot much or learn much about them, and so the project kind of flopped. But! I am now properly learning them again, and this time making better cards to match.

First, My Old Cards. I only made up to card #10 - The Wheel of Fortune. But, I have included the cards, notes on why I picked them at the time, and what plans I have for future versions of the card. Click the link for my incessant nattering on archetypes in Merlin.

Apparently, Yahoo plans to sell Delicious, now, (or maybe just give it away?) instead of shutting it down. There a

metafandom round-up post of all current discussions going on about Delicious. Check them all out.

Personally, I would still recommend exporting your bookmarks as back-up just in case.

For those of you who haven't heard, Yahoo is "sunsetting", or shutting down, Delicious (also known as del.icio.us), the bookmarking site, and the most popular fanworks bookmarking site in fandom.

kinkme_merlin mods are already discussing alternative bookmarking sites here.

So far, the ones I'm looking at are http://faves.com, http://www.diigo.com, and http://www.connotea.org. None of them will quite hold up to Delicious, but they seem better than some other options. One which I'm not looking at (because you have to pay for it) but you might be interested in is http://pinboar.in.

Over here is a discussion on simply creating a new fanfriendly bookmarking site altogether. If you have questions, suggestions, or anything else to offer, head over there. I've added my own comments, listing and summarizing useful features a fan-specific site may include. Go check it out and add your own ideas. :)

My computer was infected by a rather nasty virus, and is with some tech guys to fix it now. I have to downgrade to Windows XP again, then upgrade again to Windows 7 over Winter Break. *sighs* Anyway I'm going to be offline until late Thursday, so if there's no contact from me, that's why.

Now the not so update-y bits:

I'm using a school computer to write this (they block MySpace and Facebook then allow LJ and let me read my smutfics...? Weird rules are weird)

Today, I was in the middle of dissecting a chicken wing in my physiology class when the fire alarm went off - which happens so regularly that half the teachers are used to teaching as they lead the kids to the evacuation field, lecturing as they go - or in the case of the band kids, continuing to practice, and the choir kids, continuing to sing. We couldn't take the chicken wings with us, so our teacher just let us wander around after taking roll. The fire alarm went off because MTV is filming something at my school and have crew and props all over the place.

This is my school. Seriously.

So, in my recent post*, I admitted I was having trouble prioritizing fics in a time of a packed RL schedule, and asked for some responses from my flist to get a general idea of where to go. Some people posted there or voted in the poll, some people PM'd me. Most PM's were various forms of encouragement and advice concerning my fics.

Whether or not I'm just whining about the woes of writers - and if I am, then here, have a lollypop - this attitude of writing as an illegitimate hobby or craft until you get something for it, whether it's money or reviews, is get really damn annoying. ~~Anyone up for a manhunt of people who insist on this "opinion" as fact? I have cookies, coffee, and home-made explosives!~~

First off, software recommendation: Scrivenr - it's a great novel and story writing software that allows you to create timelines and storyboards on your terms - much more flexible than yWriter. Downside: a.) it's in the beta phase for Windows, and b.) you will eventually have to ~~go look for it on PirateBay~~ buy it (or do it already if you're on a Mac), whereas yWriter is free. But if you can ~~take the time to download it and search for activation numbers~~ afford it, I totally recommend it.

ETA: another software rec from

rtms: Storybook. Check it out, see if it fits/works. Not as structurally flexible as Scrinever, but it's still very good, much higher quality than yWriter, and still free. :D

( Summary of my Fics' Status (...Statuses...Statii?): 8 WIP's, with over 180,000 words written so far for all of them combined. )

As you can tell, I have bitten off more than I can chew, way more. I need to narrow down my work and focus on just a few things. But I'm not exactly sure, yet, which ones I will do and where I go, as I'm a.) not happy with a lot of my fics and so will likely re-write them, and b.) have a very limited time frame every day with which to write, as I'm a high school senior in America and that means COLLEGE APPS \o/.

So, you guys get to help me!

I admit that ultimately, it'll still be my choice, as my muse is beyond my control, but when it comes to issues or places where I'm undecided or not sure, I'll go by what your guys' opinions say. Now without further ago...
