Fic Update

First off, software recommendation: Scrivenr - it's a great novel and story writing software that allows you to create timelines and storyboards on your terms - much more flexible than yWriter. Downside: a.) it's in the beta phase for Windows, and b.) you will eventually have to go look for it on PirateBay buy it (or do it already if you're on a Mac), whereas yWriter is free. But if you can take the time to download it and search for activation numbers afford it, I totally recommend it.

ETA: another software rec from rtms: Storybook. Check it out, see if it fits/works. Not as structurally flexible as Scrinever, but it's still very good, much higher quality than yWriter, and still free. :D

NaNoWriMo: it's all handwritten in my notebook, but I estimate I have about ~5k. Better than last year, at any rate.

Big Bang Fic (that I still haven't finished): I'm just getting into Chapter 3 out of 5...and my fic is around 64,500 words long! o.O These things keep blowing up on me. \o/

I also have an old reel_merlin fic from long ago that I recently re-discovered on my hard-drive - it's an X-Men Movie Trilogy AU, and I'm about 21,000 words into it, at roughly 8/25 chapters.

In general, I have six other WIP's.

Two are KMM comment fic WIP's:

Primogeniture (comment fic here), with 61 parts and 35,400 words.

Journey Through a Broken Soul (comment fic here), with 25 parts and 13,800 words.

The rest are all original WIP's:

Burning The Darkness - I'm on Chapter 4 of 12, with a fic total of about 17,600 words so far.

Euphoria - no story outline, but I'm on Chapter 4, with a fic total of 5,740 words so far.

Lineage - I'm on Chapter 2 of (very tentatively) 23 chapters, with a fic total of 12,800.

All In The Cards (which is a fic-art WIP, not just fic). I have finished making up to Card 11, art wise, and I have written parts of Chapter 4 and 7, along with the four card-fics posted so far, making for a fic total of 6,970 words so far. I have 23 cards/chapters planned (I'm only doing Major Arcana for now, and I'm writing two fics for The Fool).

As you can tell, I have bitten off more than I can chew, way more. I need to narrow down my work and focus on just a few things. But I'm not exactly sure, yet, which ones I will do and where I go, as I'm a.) not happy with a lot of my fics and so will likely re-write them, and b.) have a very limited time frame every day with which to write, as I'm a high school senior in America and that means COLLEGE APPS \o/.

So, you guys get to help me!

I admit that ultimately, it'll still be my choice, as my muse is beyond my control, but when it comes to issues or places where I'm undecided or not sure, I'll go by what your guys' opinions say. Now without further ago...

Poll time! Complete with notes and arguments about each choice! I'm very pro-participatory democracy, hence why I am obviously writing in a monarchy-centric fandom. *facepalm*

I will be consistently working on my challenge fics (reel_merlin and paperlegends) as I am now not posting for a deadline or for waiting fans. But as for the rest:

KMM Fics:

Primogeniture - there's a clear plan/outline for it, but I can tell you it's damn long, so you may be waiting a while if you like Journey Through a Broken Soul.

Journey Through A Broken Soul - I'm winging it with little to no clear plan, so it could be fairly short, but updates will be more sporadic

Original WIP's:

Euphoria - no clear plan, so sporadic updates...but the vague plan I have for it says it probably won't be too long.

Burning The Darkness - very clear plan, about 12 (fairly long) chapters. But, I'm really not happy with the first few chapters, now, so I may end up heavily editing/re-writing them all before moving on. That said, I'm already 1/3 of the way through.

Lineage - 23 average sized chapters, already fairly long, but clearly planned out and with more average-sized chapters

Ideas/Plot Bunnies:

I have vague ideas for fics, but not sure which one to pick/focus on, so I'll see what you guys think.

Once and Future President - American Politics AU, where Arthur has to deal with being the first Independent President since George Washington himself - and the first openly bisexual president, too. :D Why, no, this has absolutely nothing to do with my plans to go into a political career, no, nope, nosiree, not at all...

Untitled Modern AU - Modern AU (based off this): Arthur is the Prince of Wales and Merlin is the Prime Minister's only son. They make all their appearances together, they hang out together, and they're roommates in uni and even share many classes, so it made sense to have one massive security detail for them both that only separated when the boys did (which almost never happened). It was a good idea. Except for the part where said security detail was infiltrated by a terrorist group of some kind and as such the boys ended up kidnapped together, too. - my own premise would be that they were kidnapped once as young children. They were rescued, but now it's 10 years later and they're starting uni, and the people responsible for their kidnapping had never been found, or even heard from again...until now. >:)

Red Dawn - it would also be in response to a kinkme_merlin prompt: both astronauts who have signed up to be the first men to travel to Mars. The only problem is that they absolutely hate each other, and have to spend the next -insert number of months/years- together. Floaty space sex, please? (There may be art from a collaborator, depending on how she is faring in her own life).

I'm not posting any of these any time soon, but I'll start thinking of them and planning them as I work my way through my existing fics. :)

Have you looked at Storybook, a writing software. It's totally free and open source. My dad was on yWriter and hated it. Here is the link

I've seen this, too, and it's still way too structured, but it has its uses. It's good for some novel genres, but not all. But I'll put it up as another software rec for anyone interested. :)

Heh, that rarely works out for me. My problem is that I don't actually work at a consistent speed - I can go through a lot of work at once or not much over a very long time, depending on my RL issues and my enthusiasm for the fic (which comes and goes like Arthur and Merlin :P). Any reason as to not voting in the poll?

Erm... honestly? I couldn't be arsed. I don't get around to reading much of any fanfic (or original fic for that matter) these days. Besides, what I really want are new fics in my dead fandom. *sigh*
