It's not actually that he's easier to delve into - if you want to get any character right, they're all infinitely and equally difficult. Arthur and Merlin, because we see so much of them on the show, are actually some of the easier characters to understand.
I've just lived lives akin to both boys in terms of parents, responsibilities, expectations, ect. - right now, I'm more like Arthur, and in general I relate to him more. Most people tend to have lived in situations more like Merlin or one of the other characters, so they have an easier time understanding him.
