And yeah, the story of Arthur/Gwen/Merlin/Morgana does reflect the story of Uther/Ygraine/Gaius/Nimueh. History has a tendency of repeating itself, and some of them will learn from their past, while others won't, both in terms of the show and the canonical legend.
