Oh my God, this was simply an amazing fanfic, I'm so glad I stumbled across it! Just last night I was complaining to my best friend how no one ever writes Uther/Ygraine/Nimueh AND THEN I FOUND THIS and now I'm grinning like the huge dork I am because I feel like this story just completed my life a little more!~ ♥♥

I have such an incredibly huge thing for Uther knowing about Merlin's magic--it's just amazing to see him struggle with that knowledge in this fic, and the way it gets more and more difficult to decide what to do the longer he puts that decision off. Also, you've inserted the memories perfectly in between the scenes set in the present; the way he keeps remembering more and more of what Nimueh used to be, rather than what she became, really highlights Uther's struggle with his conscience. ♥ AND OMG, I adore that he wasn't all that bothered by Merlin and Arthur's relationship--I've read so, so many fics where Uther is totally against the very idea of it, and it's absolutely great to see him being okay with it for once!~ Scratch that, supportive even--I have to say, my favorite scene in that regard was the one where Uther overheard Merlin and Arthur talking in the armory and he was grateful to Merlin for making Arthur laugh like he only ever did as a child. I may have teared up, just slightly, but I'm just a sap like that. XD; ♥♥ Really, I cannot stress that enough--so much love on you for writing it that way! <3

I think my favorite overall thing was Uther's letter to Merlin, and most of all, that Merlin found out who had sent it in the end. :) I was already half-disappointed by the time Merlin read the letter and obviously had no idea who could have sent it, and so my joy was only doubled when he did find out in the end!! I really like how you managed to strike a balance between Uther being grateful to Merlin for protecting his son, and being mildly terrifying in that authoritative way of his--in my opinion, that was really well-done, not to mention in-character for him. *nods* ♥ I also approve very much of Merlin's feelings on the matter--that he isn't just relieved that Uther knows and basically doesn't mind, but also decides to be even more secretive about his magic in the future, if even the king of Camelot tells him to be on his guard.

Oh yeah, one more thing--I can't tell you how awesome it is that Uther actually ends up being amused by Merlin's general air of, well, idiocy (sorry, Merlin, but it's true! :P), rather than irritated. ♥ I'm sure Merlin's occasional hilarious displays of incompetence would exasperate Uther to an extent, yes, but why wouldn't he also be secretly amused by them, if all us fangirls are?! In my opinion, he does have a sense of humor, although he hides it well! ^_^

Overall, I absolutely loved this fanfic--thank you so much for brightening up the prospect of having to go back to uni next Monday for me! :) ♥
