~*~
Merlin stood on the castle ramparts, leaning into a crenel, looking down the long drop towards the ground.
He could imagine himself down there. His limbs would splay out, awkward angles from the shock of impact shattering his bones. Pieces of them might stick out of his flesh. There’d be drops of blood from all over his body. He wondered if his eyes would be open or closed.
He turned away, and watched the sun set into the darkness. He didn’t know when the moon would rise, what phase it would be in.
He would wait and see. Who knows...
~*~
I don’t know if this helps or even matters, but...it was kind of how I felt when I was close to the edge but not quite over it.
