Yes, Arthur breaking the law for Merlin is a little bit more than going against daddy's wishes when it comes to rescuing servants. Here he is in clear violation and yet willing to do it for Merlin. Which... really sets up a dilemma when he finds out about the magic. All along I'd been thinking that Arthur would go crazy and maybe hurt Merlin once he finds out but with the last couple of episodes, it feels like that is not going to be the case.
I adored the Uther/Gauis interactions in this episode. I'd often thought there was something more going on there between them and this episode really cemented it. Plus I think you are right about how they mirror Merlin and Arthur's relationship and how it could go if they turn a wrong corner when Arthur becomes king.
