Wow, that does sound confusing, but really interesting too. So the third book is like a flashback then? Fun timelines can be hard to work through at first, but when you do figure it out it can be really good. And so long as it's not as confusing as Hexwood, you should be fine. (That book does my head in every time, even when I sort of know what's going on to start with...)

I meant more that angst and diabolicalness don't necessary balance each other out. Angst and comfort or diabolicalness (diabolicity?) and niceness balance each other out. Oh well, what do I know? I dropped science after GCSE.
