For Merlin, there is a bit of an advantage to having someone else around to help should he need it to save Arthur. :P

I always thought the bits with Aredian were just a bit over the top. While I can get how desperate Merlin was, I figured with all the others in the loop they'd be able to temper him a bit. :)
