Hm, cat and child actually have somewhat similar pronounciations (at least in some accents, depending) so I'm not surprised. And yay for the link - but sadly, it won't work for my browser, which sucks because I would love to hear how the stuff is actually pronounced. :D
And yeah, letter placement and whatnot obviously effects the pronounciation of any language that uses Latin - even Spanish, though it has the least position-based pronounciation issues of all - but for the most part, most letters are easy to figure out, between its relations to modern English and just basically how some stuff naturally shifts pronounciation on your tongue when you try an say someone with an awkward spelling.
When I get the chance to properly edit, I'll be sure to add in your link - it'll be dead useful for the more historical-spelling accurate translators I linked to. ^_^ Thanks!
